Aurora

Aurora Aksnes (born June 15, 1996, in Stavanger) is an Norwegian musician and vocalist. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves is released in May of 2015 from Decca Records. It has received a lot of praise from blogs and the press. Half the World Away - by the Oasis is a cover for John Lewis' Christmas ad as well as Nature Boy - by Nat King Cole is already two of the most notable covers she has recorded. Katy Perry, who endorsed the tune Runaway with her voice, gave the song a boost of recognition. It was her birthday celebration. Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was discovering a piano within her loft and being intrigued by its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. The Aksnes family encouraged her to not to play music only for fun or as a means of development but instead, she must explore it. As a result, she began writing the music she composed herself. Bjork as well as Leonard Cohen are among her favorite composers. Her mother was supportive of her performing her songs in public, not so that she could be famous, but in order to show others how important they are and what they can do for the world. The piano was first played by her when she was only six and began writing music when she was nine. Her family didn't know until the age of 14. It was never a dream to be Aurora. Aurora says she loves to compose music. She believes music can make anyone feel better.
